A Great Day Starts with a Great Morning

Imagine the following scenario: you oversleep your alarm, stub your toe getting out of bed, it’s raining cats and dogs outside, and you’re out of coffee. Immediately you think to yourself, “this is the worst day ever!” And there you have it: you just set your intention for the day. Those six little words determined the kind of day you’re going to have. That’s because negativity just breeds more and more negativity. What if, however, you made your best effort to turn the day around? You’d be able to stop the negativity in its tracks. My solution? Have a morning routine that makes you feel good. Start your day off on the right foot!

1. Invest in a Sunrise Alarm Clock

Isn’t it nice when you can peacefully and gradually wake up instead of being startled out of your sleep by an alarm clock? That’s the concept behind a sunrise alarm clock. These alarm clocks wake you up gradually by slowly increasing the brightness of its light. REJOICE! No more *BEEP BEEP BEEPs*!

2. Make Your Bed

I know, I know. You’re all like, “Yes MOM”. But trust me on this. You get two big benefits from making your bed in the morning. One – it makes you feel more accomplished. Two – you have a nice, cozy, bed to come home to. Check out this awesome video on why you should make your bed every morning!

3. Watch a Ted Talk

Or an inspirational video. Or even just read a few pages of a motivational book. Do something that will make you ready to tackle the day.

4. Listen to Some Tunes

I have a bluetooth speaker in my room. One of the first things I do while getting ready in the morning is turn on something upbeat and happy. Make a “morning motivation” playlist filled with songs that pump you up and make you sing out loud.
