How to Understand That Your Skin Lacks Moisture
During hot summer weather, winter frosts, and when the heating is turned on, the skin rapidly loses moisture. This leads to dryness, flabbiness, and an unpleasant texture. Despite using nourishing creams, the skin fails to improve because it lacks hydration, not nutrition. If left unresolved, deep wrinkles may appear in the near future, requiring the services of plastic surgeons.
Reasons for skin moisture loss:
- Inadequate fluid intake—daily recommended amount is 2.5 liters per person.
- Washing the face with hot water.
- Use of cleansing cosmetics containing aggressive ingredients.
- Unsuitable and poor-quality skincare products.
- Dry and arid, or frosty and windy weather conditions.
Some individuals naturally have dry skin, which remains unchanged throughout their lives. However, improper care can worsen the condition over time, resulting in flakiness and a feeling of tightness.
Signs indicating skin dehydration:
- Unpleasant, rough, and excessively dry texture.
- Failure of a small area on the cheekbone to smooth out immediately when pinched.
- Unhealthy skin color.
- Inability to achieve evenness when applying foundation.
- Unpleasant sensations like itching or burning.
- Noticeable fine wrinkles when creating folds with fingers on any part of the face.
The degree of hydration can also be determined by the absorption rate of moisturizers. If a thick layer of serum or cream applied to a small area almost disappears within a minute, it indicates that the surface has absorbed all the moisture. Adequately hydrated skin will absorb the cream slowly.
Actions to take if the skin lacks moisture:
- Change skincare products and choose high-quality moisturizers from another reputable manufacturer.
- Consume ample water and other unsweetened liquids such as teas, compotes, juices, and fruit drinks. Increase intake in hot environments or when the air temperature approaches or exceeds 30 degrees Celsius.
- Avoid using regular soap for washing and reduce the frequency of scrubbing and exfoliation.
- Wash the face with cool water and limit visits to saunas or bathhouses to once per month.
- During a contrast shower in the morning, avoid alternating cold and hot water on the neck and face.
- Refrain from applying masks made of clay and other drying components.
To prevent excessive skin dryness, use sunscreen during summer and apply thick protective creams before venturing outdoors in winter.
