What’s Your “Why”?

Not everyone likes to workout. To some, it’s as enjoyable as getting a root canal. To others, exercise is just a necessary evil. But have you ever stopped to ask yourself, “Why am I doing this?”

Finding Your “Why”

Finding a reason to workout goes beyond just aesthetics and looking good in a swimsuit. Exercise, building strength, and increasing stamina enables you to participate in a million different activities without pain or too much struggle.

Picking up a heavy box requires the same body mechanics as the deadlift. With good form and adequate strength, that task becomes simplified. The other day when I was pulling weeds out of my garden and lifting the hose (which is kinda heavy), I realized that if I didn’t workout, that small task would have been significantly harder.

Another “why” could be your mental health. For many, exercise is a huge stress reliever. It also builds self-esteem and confidence. When you conquer a hard workout or hit a new PR (personal record), you feel on top of the world.

Or you could simply just want to have a long, active, pain free life. You want to play with your kids, participate in sports, go on hikes, bike ride, or live & enjoy life.

Maybe you haven’t figured out your “why” yet. And that’s okay! Sometimes it’s an ongoing search. The most important part though? That you never stop looking.
