Foodie Finds Friday: Episode 2

Welcome back for episode two of FOODIE FINDS FRIDAY! The star of today’s episode is *drumroll please*…

Bone Broth!

“Yuck! Bone broth? That sounds horrible!”, you say? Relax! It’s not as bad as it sounds. It’s basically like chicken or vegetable broth. It’s made from animal bones that have been boiled down into a broth. Then it is simmered along with herbs, spices, and veggies.

What are The Health Benefits of Bone Broth?

There are a ton! For starters, bone broth contains nutrients that can strengthen your skeletal system (funny how that works, bone broth for bone health). Bone broth has glucosamine in it as well. Glucosamine supplements are typically used as a treatment for joint pain. Bone broth also is full of iron, calcium, magnesium, and zinc. Furthermore, certain studies have found that glycine, which is found in bone broth, can improve one’s sleep.

Where Can I Find Bone Broth?

You can actually make it yourself! Check out this how-to guide if you’re feeling creative. Or, you can find it at your local natural foods market.

Um…How Do I Cook With Bone Broth?

The possibilities are endless! Use it in place of water in your favorite grain. For example, you can use it as the liquid for your rice, quinoa, or pasta. You can also use it to make a soup. If you’re looking for an actual recipe, check out this one for slow cooker pulled chicken!
